South to the southern hills of Hebron

Tel Zif – A Biblical mound with a wonderful view of the entire region. The nearby desert of Zif which is seen here, is the site of one of the most dramatic stories of the youthful David fleeing from King Saul.

Avigail – A visit to this young growing community named after one of David's wives who came from this area. Across the main road, we see the towering Biblical mound of Maon, the hometown of Nabel. It was he who refused to supply food to David's hungry followers in another very dramatic story, as told in the Bible.

Susya –A tour of Susya is considered to be the highlight of a trip to the southern hills of Hebron. It was here that archeologists discovered a previously unknown Jewish community dating back to the Talmudic period. Here we will see the impressive ancient synagogue with its beautiful mosaic floor and its inscriptions in Hebrew. Here we will see the numerous ritual baths, the menorah and mezuza which reflect the beliefs and values of the community. Here we will see (and enter) the multi -purpose caves which were an integral part of each of the homes, and here we will see the large deep cisterns which served as the major source of water for the town located in this semi desert region. In conclusion, we will visit the modern well-established town of Susya and one of the new farms in the area.
