West to the lowlands of Judea

Tel Bet-Shemesh – A tour of the Biblical mound featuring a lovely view of the Sorek valley and archeological remains on the site including the very special and impressive tenth century B.C.E. cistern. A site where the Samson stories can be appreciated as well as other chapters in the Bible.

Tel Yarmut – An important archeological site dating back to the early bronze period, known as the period of urbanization, when cities were first established. Remains of the ancient wall which was built for protection around the site and remains of a public building – perhaps a palace- can be seen, as well as the site of the later Biblical town.

Tel Azeka -Overlooking the Elah valley, the biblical mound of Azeka features a beautiful view to the west to the coastal area and to the east to the hill country. The strong heavily fortified site is known from the Bible to have existed until the Babylonian conquest of Judea. It has     recently been excavated. The story of David and Goliath is commonly told here overlooking the site of the battle in the valley beneath.
